The Night the Moon Went Black

The night was cold
The moon was shining like always
I went to bed then woke up
for a glass of water
It was dark
that’s when it happened
the moon shut out
I did not know what to do
so I got a ladder to climb up to the moon
On the moon I saw a martian
He said “The moon is tired of staying up ‘till the sun rises”
I said “But it is dark”
He said “Sorry”
So I went home to sleep
and that’s what happened
when the moon went
black
