Note: Starting in 2014, YWA will no longer host this annual April contest. We encourage you to hold your own school-wide or community group contests and celebration of winners.

• Theme-based challenge to school-aged writers, ages 5-18

• Submission deadline February 1st of each year.

• Winners receive prizes from local businesses and a free workshop with an award-winning author.

• Winners also read during YWA Glitterary Word Festival on the last Saturday in April.

• Winning pieces are published in YWA’s creative writing journal, UpStarts.
